Relation of the size of functional hepatic cell mass to the clearance of indocyanine green.

چکیده

The correlation between fractional clearance (K) of indocyanine green (ICG) and size of hepatic cell mass altered by functional hepatectomy as well as the degree of hepatic damage induced by carbon tetrachloride (CCI 4) was investigated in the dog. Less than 20% functional hepatectomy produced only a minimal decrease in K of ICG probably due to the potential functional reserve of the liver, while in dogs with more than 70% functional hepatectomy, K of ICG was remarkably decreased. K of ICG was correlated highly with the magnitude of functional hepatectomy, i.e. the size of remaining functional hepatic cell mass. Large doses of CC14 induced remarkable decreases in K of ICG, being correlated positively with the degree of hepatic cell necrosis, and CCI4 in smaller doses rather activated the hepatic cell function as reflected by higher K values. It was concluded that K of ICG was a reliable indicator of function of hepatic cell mass in acute or subacute damage of the hepatic cell.

Photosensitivity and Radiosensitivity of Indocyanine Green on Human Cell Lines MCF7 and DFW

Background & Aims: In this study with the aim of benefiting from non-laser sources in photodynamic therapy, photo and radio sensitivity of indocyanine green as a sensitizer in photodynamic and radiation therapies were investigated. Methods: Based on the broad absorption peak of indocyanine green and using non-coherent light, the experiments were performed on human cells derived from breast canc...

Wharton’s Jelly-derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells can Differentiate into Hepatocyte-like Cells by HepG2 Cell Line Extract

Background: Wharton’s jelly is an unlimited source of stem cells that can be used in cell therapy and tissue engineering without any ethical concern. It has been revealed the cell-free extract could be effective to induce cell differentiation. The objective of this study was to induce Wharton’s jelly-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) into hepatocyte-like cells by premeabilization of the cel...

Orexin-A Improves Hepatic Injury Following Renal Ischemia Reperfusion in Rats

Introduction: Orexins are novel neuropeptides that are localized in neurons in the lateral hypothalamus. They are implicated in a wide variety of physiological functions. Orexin peptides and receptors are found in many peripheral organs such as kidneys. It has been demonstrated that exogenous orexin-A can induce protective effects against ischemia–reperfusion injury in many organs. The goal ...

Hepatic function and indocyanine green clearance during and after prolonged anaesthesia with propofol.

We have studied the effects of propofol on hepatic function and clearance of indocyanine green (ICG) in 13 consecutive patients undergoing prolonged plastic and reconstructive surgery. Hepatic function was assessed using serum concentrations of liver-specific glutathione-S-transferase (GST). There were no significant changes in GST activity or plasma clearance of ICG throughout the study.

Functional disturbance of biliary indocyanine green excretion in rat cerulein pancreatitis followed by endotoxemia: role of the prime and the second attack.

CONTEXT Hepatic injury is considered one of the critical complications associated with acute pancreatitis. It was proposed that initial insults to the liver in the early phase of the attack have an important priming effect, and the subsequent infectious attack (e.g. infectious pancreatic necrosis, bacterial translocation episode) constitutes a second attack on the liver. OBJECTIVE To evaluate...
